CARY, N.C. - Mrs. Rita Y. (Bedard) Dugan, age 90, a former Tewksbury resident, died peacefully Wednesday morning, July 23, at the Sunnybrook Healthcare Center in Raleigh, N.C., after a long period of declining health. She was the beloved wife of Francis J. Dugan, who died in 2002.
She was born in Lowell, March 5, 1924, the daughter of the late George and Anna (Fournier) Bedard, and was raised in Lowell. She lived in Tewksbury from 1957 until 2001, where she and Frank raised their family.
Prior to retirement, she worked as an inspector in the missile manufacturing division of Raytheon in Andover. She also served as the IBEW Union Steward during her tenure at Raytheon.
She is survived by a daughter, Ann Marie Williams and her husband William H. Williams Jr., with whom she resided in Cary, N.C., a son, Francis J. Dugan Jr. and his wife Tracy (Prendabale) of Methuen; seven grandchildren, Ryan, Matthew, and Daniel Dugan, and Brandon, twins Bryson and Brianna and Juliana Williams; several nieces and nephews; and was predeceased by her son, Paul J. Dugan and her brother, Henry P. Bedard.
Her Funeral Mass was celebrated Friday July 25, in St. William’s Church, Tewksbury. Following cremation, she was interred in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, E. Chelmsford. Memorials to the American Stroke/Heart Assn. P.O. Box 3049, Syracuse, NY 13220 or visit www.strokeassociation.org
