Obituary

New Bedford – Roger Desrochers, age 87 of New Bedford, passed away on Wednesday, June 23, 2014 at his home with his family at his side. He was the loving husband of the late Dorothy (Rodrigues) Desrochers and the son of the late Joseph S. Desrochers. He was born in New Bedford and lived in this area all his life. Roger worked for UMass Dartmouth as a Lab Technician until his retirement, and was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWll and the Korean Conflict, serving 10 Years in the Military and was a member of the VFW of Fairhaven Post 2892 and President of Dartmouth Senior Associates.
He is survived by his daughter: Diana Reis and her husband George of New Bedford, 2 grandchildren: George Reis Jr and Elizabeth Reis, as well as 2 great grandchildren, 2 nieces, and 2 nephews. He is also survived by his stepsisters Doris Lynch of Riverside Rhode Island and Vivian Pimental of Fairhaven and was the brother of the late Joseph R. Desrochers.
His funeral will be held on Saturday, July 26 beginning in the funeral home at 7:45 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Marys Church in Dartmouth at 9:00 A.M. Burial will take place in St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours will be in the funeral home on Friday evening from 4 – 7 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Arrangements placed in the care of Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. in New Bedford.
