Obituary

Kevin Charles Ouimet, 60, of Westport, Massachusetts, died peacefully on Wednesday November 17, 2004 at Lahey Clinic in Burlington surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Susan (Schwartz) Ouimet; they had been happily married for thirty-four years.
Born in New Bedford, the son of Mary T. (Melia) Ouimet of Plainville and the late Charles J. Ouimet, he lived in Westport for thirty-two years.
Kevin was graduated from Holy Family High School and Southeastern Massachusetts Technological Institute, Class of 1967.
Kevin served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, on the USS Forrestal and the USS America, receiving the National Defense Service Medal and commendations for rescues in the Mediterranean.
He was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church in Westport.              
Kevin worked at the Bristol County District Attorney's office for over 10 years.
An avid outdoorsman, Kevin loved to golf and to spend time out on the water, fishing, boating, and going to the beach. Kevin was a founding member of O.C.E.A.N. (Ovarian Cancer Education and Awareness Network) at Massachusetts General Hospital, and responsible for naming the organization. He was a member of the Westport Lions Club, serving as president from 1980-1981. Most important in his life was his devotion and love for his family.
Survivors include his widow; his mother; a son Michael Kevin Ouimet of Westport, a daughter Karen Suzanne Ouimet of Westport, two brothers, Dr. Charles C. Ouimet of Tallahassee, Florida and Christopher P. Ouimet, of St. Charles, Illinois; two sisters, Mary Elaine Viera of New Bedford and Catherine N. McLaughlin of Plainville; his godchildren Erin (Ouimet) Tuomi of Easton, Ethan Ouimet of St. Charles, Illinois, and Andrew Viera of Valley Village, California; and many nieces and nephews.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday November 22, 2004 at 11 AM at St. John the Baptist Church, 945 Main Road, Westport. Burial with military honors will follow in the Beech Grove Cemetery, Main Road, Westport. Visiting hours will be on Sunday November 21, 2004 from 3-7 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Remembrances may be made to O.C.E.A.N. at M.G.H., Mass. General Hospital, Cox Bldg. Room 110, 55 Fruit St., Boston, MA 02114, for their Ovarian Cancer Education Awareness Network.
