Hale, Martha Lynn (Griffith) of Wayland, formerly of Gratham, NH; Chagrin Falls, OH; Shelbyville, TN. July 21, 2014, age 92. Beloved wife of the late Samuel N. Hale. Loving mother of M. Susan Elliott and her husband David of South Natick, and the late Marilyn H. Nottage and her surviving husband Barry of Nassau, Bahamas. Grandmother of Sean and Jamie Nottage of Nassau, Bahamas and Kathryn Elliott of South Natick. Great-grandmother of Haley, Kelsey, Tamsin, and Lila. Sister of the late William M. Martha Lynn grew up in Tennessee Walking Horse country under the watchful, yet mischievous eyes of an older and a younger brother. After two years at Stephens College in Columbia, MO, she transferred to the University of KY where she met Sam Hale. Their wonderful 67 year marriage endured Sam's time in England and Europe during WWII. Sam's career at Ernst & Young uprooted them from Tennessee to Buffalo, NY and Cleveland, OH. A second home at Eastman in Grantham, NH became a most wonderful retirement home for 20 years. Lynn loved gardening and tolerated golf. She learned to swim at age 60 and also took up race walking with avengence, winning her age group on numerous occasions. With a southern accent and charm that endured to her last days, Lynn was friend to all she met. A life well lived!
