Obituary

Joseph A. Freitas, of Plympton died July 17, 2014. Joseph was born in Plymouth MA, and attended Plymouth Schools, graduated from Stockbridge School of Agriculture at the University of MA in 1953 during which time he played semi pro football. He entered the Army in 1953 and moved to Plympton in 1955. He is survived by his wife Jacqueline B. Freitas; two brothers, Donald Freitas of North Conway, NH and Richard Freitas of Kingston, MA ; two sisters, Adeline Goff of Kingston, MA and Lorraine Lindl of Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania; stepchildren, Wayne Ormsbee and his wife Delores and their children Kevin, Kassi, Keenan and Keisha; Mark Ormsbee and his wife Rebecca and their son Austin; Nan Borsari and her children Marcus and Julianne.

Joe was an active member on the Plympton Board of Selectmen for 38 years, as well as being an active member of the Plympton Finance Committee, Dennett and Silver Lake School Committees, Board of Fire Engineers, Special Police, Capital Expenditure Committee, Conservation Commission, Board of Health, Water Commission, Ration Board, Advisory Board of the Plymouth County Commissioners, Old Colony Planning Council Economic Development Committee and founder of the Harry Jason Park Study & Development Committee, which was his most recent passion, the development of Harry Jason Park. Joe "chicken boy" was active in the 4-H for 25 years as the leader of the "Fowl Play Poultry Club" and served on the Board of Trustees. He was a long time member of the Cold Spring Club in Plymouth, MA and the Upland Sportsman's Club in Plympton, MA.

In lieu of flowers, Joe would appreciate donations to be made to the Town of Plympton, 5 Palmer Road, Plympton, MA 02367, for the development of Harry Jason Park.

A gathering to celebrate Joe's life will be held at the Upland Sportsman's Club in Plympton on Saturday, August 16, 2014 anytime from 1:00PM to 5:00PM for all his family and friends.
