Obituary

Boylston - James F. Oliver, 78, passed away peacefully at home with family by his side on Sunday, July 20, 2014. He leaves his wife of 30 years, Beverly A. (Kayer) Hakenson-Oliver; two sons, Jimmy Lee Oliver of Sutton and John H. Oliver of Northbridge and their families; His beloved “daughter” by heart, Laura Dyke, who dedicated herself in lovingly caring for him, and her daughters Alexandra and Madolyn of Worcester; His former son-in-law and friend, Mitch Dyke of Auburn; A step-son, Roy of Rockport and a step-daughter, Elizabeth of Virginia and their families; and several good friends including Dottie Rollins, Kevin, and Larry.

Born in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Jim was the son of the late Marieta L. (Burnett) and Albert F. Oliver. He was a Marine Corps Veteran, serving our country for 4 years in the Korean War. Jim worked for the Westborough Public Schools for 34 years, including many as Superintendent of Grounds. He also worked for several years in security for the Cumberland Farms company in Westborough. Jim was a lifetime member of the Marine Corps League. He had many interests and especially loved the challenge of solving puzzles, and spending time outdoors whether he was fishing or working in the yard.

There will be no services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Metrowest Hospice, 200 Nickerson Rd. Suite 100, Marlborough MA 01753. Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street, Worcester directed arrangements.
