Eliza Rego, age 100 of Somerset, passed away July 19, 2014 at home with her family by her side. She lived in Fall River for 53 years before moving to Somerset. She was the daughter of the late Manuel & Marianna (Travassos) Rego. Prior to retiring, Eliza worked as a sewing machine operator for the Beacon Garment Shop. She was a member of the I.L.G.W.U., now UNITE and a parishioner of St. John of God Church. She enjoyed cooking, reading, sewing & word search puzzles.
Eliza is survived by and lived with her sister Mrs. Anna Maria Hickey (husband Lawrence) of Somerset; nieces: Mrs. Anna Arruda, Mrs. Manuel (Helen) Carreiro, Mrs. Mary DeSouto, Mrs. Lena Miranda all of Fall River, Mrs. Charles (Lucille) Raposa of Venice, FL; nephews: Mr. Dennis James (wife Betty-Ann) Hickey and great nephew: James Patrick Hickey all of Covington, LA. She is also survived by several other great nieces and great nephews. She was the sister of the late Mary R. Almeida, Helen Cabral, John and Manuel Rego. She was the aunt of the late Joseph Cabral, Mathew P. Cabral, Olivia Oliveira, Diniz Rego and Maria Rego.
Her wake will take place THURSDAY from 8:00-9:30 A.M. in the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME, INC. 1521 N. Main St., Fall River, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. John of God Church at 10:00 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River.
