Kirk Evans, 85, of Irwin County, died Saturday, July 19, 2014, at Palemon Gaskins Memorial Nursing Home in Ocilla.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel, Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Rex Johnson and the Rev. Ray Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the Abba Cemetery. The family will receive friends from one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Evans was born December 22, 1928, in Wilcox County, Georgia to the late James Ralph and Vertie Parks Evans. He was a farmer and a longtime member of the ASCS Committee. A former resident of Miami, Florida, Mr. Evans lived most of his life in Ben Hill and Irwin Counties. He was a member of Arp Baptist Church.
He is survived by his children: Elaine & George McCraney of Irwin County and Derrell & Sherry White of Heard Country; daughters-in-law: Patricia White of Troup County and Ann White Lewis of Irwin County; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; his siblings: Inez Evans Fitzgerald of the Owensboro community, Dot & Ben Bryant of Stark, Florida, Pete & Barbara Evans of High Springs, Florida, and Susie & W.E. Clements of Tifton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Geraldine Adams White Evans; two sons: W.L. White & Randy White; grandchildren: DaLinda Ann White, Steve White, and DeMarris Lott and three siblings: Tommy Evans, Nancy Evans, and an infant brother.
