TEWKSBURY - Marion F. (Butler) Whitten, age 98, a resident of Tewksbury for the last fifteen years, died peacefully at her home, Saturday afternoon, July 19. She was the beloved wife for 43 years of the late Arthur E. Whitten, who died in 1978.
She was born in Danvers, November 18, 1915, a daughter of the late William H. and Eva F. (Bryan) Butler, and lived the greater part of her life in Danvers. She lived in Rome, NY, Manchester, NH, Lynn and Lynnfield before she moved to Vero Beach, Florida, in 1958. She worked in the school lunch programs in Vero Beach before retirement.
Marion is survived by five children, Arthur E. Whitten Jr. and his wife Mary of N.C., Dorothy E. Dean of West Palm Beach, FL, Carolyn R. Powers and her husband Joseph of Tewksbury, with whom she resided, Patricia M. Baxter and her husband Leaman of Woburn, Joy E. Flaherty and her husband Thomas of Port St. Lucy, FL; eleven grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; and was predeceased by her sisters Edith May Gunter, and Ruth Ann Butler.
Visiting hours Wednesday, July 23, from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Tewksbury Funeral Home, corner of 1 Dewey and 975 Main Sts. (Rte 38) TEWKSBURY CENTER, ph. (800 in MA or 978) 851 2950.
