Obituary

EAST HARWICH, MA-Walter Kulesza, 76 of 19 Sugar Hill Drive formerly of Worcester died Monday, March 25th in St.Vincent Hospital, Worcester after an illness. He leaves his wife of 57 years, Pauline (Brown) Kulesza; his son, Gerald P. Kulesza of Eastham; his daughter, LuAnne Tribastone of Worcester; 2 sisters, Genevieve Gulbicki, and Anna Zybas both of Worcester; 6 grandchildren and a great grandson; several nephews and nieces. A son, Walter F. Kulesza died in 1967 and 2 brothers, Stanley Kulesza, Frank Kulesza and 3 sisters, Mary Libuda, Veronica Albe, and Josephine Kosnick all predeceased him.

He was born in Worcester the son of Peter and Catherine (Kopaniarz) Kulesza and lived in Worcester for many years before moving to E. Harwich 10 years ago. He graduated from Commerce High School and attended classes at the College of the Holy Cross for Industrial Relations Program. He was a WWII Navy veteran serving on the USS Monterey in the Pacific Ocean. Mr. Kulesza served as a Lieutenant in the Worcester County Sheriff’s department for over 30 years he retired in 1980. He previously worked as an assembler and blacksmith for Crompton & Knowles for many years retiring in 1967. He was a member of Worcester Lodge of Elks # 243, the Polish Naturalization Independent Club, the Polish American Veterans Club, the Veteran of Foreign Wars Post in West Boylston. He was the co-founder and past president of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in Worcester and belonged to the Boston chapter, he served as past president of the State Association of Polish American Citizens Club. He managed the Crompton & Knowles Softball Team and loved clam digging and fishing.

The funeral will be held Wednesday, March 27th from O’Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester with a Mass at 9:00 AM in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 600 Cambridge Street, Worcester. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours areTuesday, March 26th from 5:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 220 North Main Street, Natick, MA 01760.
