Obituary

SALEM- Ralph E. Ames, Sr., 56, husband of Judith A (Jackson) Ames, of Planters Street, Salem, died Wednesday afternoon, December 27, 2000, in the Salem Hospital following a short illness.

Born in Lynn, he was the son of Ralph F. Ames of Wells River, Vermont and the late Gertrude (Newhall) Ames.

He was a Vietnam Era Veteran and served in the Army.

He was employed as a machinist for several years at the General Electric Co. in Lynn.

A graduate of Peabody High School, he was a resident of Salem for over 25 years and was a member of the Ward Two Social Club, Salem.

Besides his wife, with whom he shared 32 years of marriage and his father, he is survived by one son, Ralph E. Ames, Jr of Salem, one daughter, Carrie J. Ames of Salem, a foster daughter, Tina Burbine of Salem, one brother Roger E. Ames of Braintree, Vermont and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one grandchild, Kyle Thackery Ames.

His funeral service was held on Friday, December 29, 2000 at 11 AM in the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem. Visiting hours were Thursday, 6 to 8 PM.
