Obituary

CHICOPEE – Lionel A. “Lee” Denault, 89, a longtime resident of Chicopee and Ludlow, was Called Safely Home on Monday, July 14, 2014. He passed into Eternal Life at the Soldiers Home in Holyoke surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family and his wonderful caregivers. He was born in North Adams on April 3, 1925, a beloved son of the late Archie and Maria (Laliberte) Denault. He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II and attained the rank of Seaman First Class. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 64 years, Claire M. (Theriault) Denault who was Called Home on October 20, 2009. He leaves his loving children, Suzanne Hastings and her husband, Arthur, of Feeding Hills and Kenneth Denault and his wife, Lise, of Belchertown; and his many nephews and nieces. Besides his parents and wife, he was also predeceased by his brothers and sisters, Valmore Denault, Donald Denault, Veronica Renner and Evelyn Bellerose. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, July 18, 2014 at 11:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, 1065 Springfield Street, Feeding Hills, MA 01030. His Committal Service with US Navy Military Honors will follow the Mass at 1 p.m. in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001. There are no visiting hours at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His family has requested that memorial donations be made in his memory to the Holyoke Soldiers Home Activities Department, 110 Cherry Street, Holyoke, MA 01040 or to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children, (Specify Springfield), 516 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
