Worcester – Sr. Jacquelyn J. Alix p.f.m., 73, of Worcester died peacefully on Sunday, July 13th in the Saint Francis Home.
Sr. Jacquelyn was born in Webster, MA, daughter of the late Leonard and Janet (Fournier) Alix. She is a graduate of Bartlett High School in Webster, and furthered her education at Becker College in Worcester, Annhurst College in South Woodstock, CT, where she earned her business administration degree and later was awarded an honorary doctorate degree of Humane Letters from Assumption College in Worcester.
Sr. Jacquelyn professed her vows in the religious order of the Little Franciscans of Mary on August 12, 1967 and worked at the Saint Francis Home for 30 years as the administrator from 1970 until her retirement in 2000. Upon leaving the Saint Francis Home in 2000 Sr. Jaquelyn went to work in parish life as a pastoral associate for Saint Mary’s Parish in Jefferson, MA.
Sr. Jacquelyn served two terms as the Regional Superior of the United States for the Little Franciscans of Mary and also served as the treasurer both during and after her terms as the Regional Superior.
She was active in many organizations including serving on the Board of Directors for the Sisters of Saint Anne Marie Esther Health Center in Marlboro, serving on the Board of Directors for the Presentation Health Care Center run by the Sisters of Presentation in Leominster, she also belonged to the Catholic Health Association and was an active member of the Religious Collaborative Planning Coalition for the Sisters in the Diocese of Worcester. Sr. Jacquelyn also received the Award for Retired Religious from the Diocese of Worcester.
Sr. Jacquelyn leaves behind many cousins, including Dolores Hebert of North Grosvenordale, CT who was devoted to her with frequent calls and visits. Besides her cousins she also leaves behind her religious community and many friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, July 17th at 11 AM in Saint Joseph Church 35 Hamilton St. Burial will be held in Baie-Saint Paul, Quebec. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, July 16th from 5 to 8 PM in Saint Joseph Church. Memorial contributions in memory of Sr. Jacquelyn may be made to the Little Franciscans of Mary Retirement Fund, 12 Jones St. Worcester, MA 01604.
