Clyde R. Willey, 88, passed away Friday, July 4, 2014 at his daughter Wendy’s home.
Clyde leaves behind his wife of 64 years, Jeanne G. (LaPan) Willey, 3 children; Brenda J. Hansen and her husband Bruce of Oxford, Wendy M. Gomes and her husband Alan of North Grosvenordale, CT., and Christopher R. Willey of Shrewsbury, 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Clyde was born in Oxford son of Lawrence P. and Mildred (Farnum) Willey and lived her most of his life. He was a WWII, U.S. Navy veteran and served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater mostly in the Philipines.
He worked as a mail carrier in Oxford for 27 years and retired from there in 1980, he then worked for 18 years for the Town of Oxford, cemetery department.
He was a member of the Oxford V.F. W. Post 5663, and Oxford American Legion Post 58.He enjoyed playing pool, horseshoes, hunting, hiking, bean bag games and his metal detector, he also loved his dogs.
A Graveside Service with Military Honors by the Oxford Memorial Honor Guard will be Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at 11 AM at North Cemetery in Oxford.
There are no calling hours.
