Ethel A. (Perry) Kenney, age 87, of Mansfield, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, in the comfort of her home on Monday, July 14, 2014. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert F. Kenney.
Born in Boston, MA on September 13, 1926, she was a loving daughter of the late Herbert and Ethel F. (Powers) Perry. She grew up in the Roslindale section of Boston, was educated in Boston public schools, and graduated from Roslindale High School.
Prior to retiring, Mrs. Kenney had worked as a clerk for 15 years at Bank of Boston and also served as a dedicated homemaker to her adoring family.
A resident of Mansfield for the past 17 years, she had formerly made her home in Hyde Park. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Mansfield, a former parishioner of St. Pius X Church in Milton and was a longtime member of the Third Order of Franciscans in Hyde Park.
Since living in Mansfield, Ethel became an active member of the Mansfield Council on Aging. She served as a council secretary and was involved with the silver chimers and the song birds.
Ethel enjoyed being in the company of family and friends which included singing many of her old time favorites. She treasured times spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and was anticipating the birth of her tenth great grandchild.
She is survived by her loving and devoted children; Robert J. Kenney and his wife Ava of North Easton, Jane M. Dangora and her husband Jan of Abington, Diane C. Kenney of Mansfield, Patricia A. O’Neill and her husband Richard of Bellingham and Carol A. Bruns of Franklin. She was the dear sister of Thelma McGrann and her husband William of Taunton and the late Burt, Howard, Clara, Evelyn and David. She is also survived by her cherished 14 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, July 17th at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Interment in Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, July 16th from 4-8 P.M. at the Bolea-Amici Funeral Home, 115 North Main St., Mansfield.
