Obituary

Robert E. Hunt, Sr., 82, of Spencer, formerly of Worcester, passed away Sunday, July 13th in St. Francis Home, Worcester. His wife of 47 years, Joan M. (Tessier) Hunt, died in 2006. He leaves a son, Robert E. Hunt, Jr. and his wife Joanne of Spencer; a daughter, Mary E. Wilson and her husband Mark of Leicester; a brother, Martin Hunt and his wife Dorothy of Hopkinton; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by two brothers, David and James Hunt, and a sister, Sr. Mary of the Sorrowful Heart.

Born in Worcester, the son of James and Nora (O’Reilly) Hunt, he graduated from St. John’s High School and attended Clark University. He worked at David Clark Co. and later at Spag’s for 25 years, before retiring in 1993. He was a member of Our Lady of the Angels Church, Worcester. Mr. Hunt was a sports fan, especially of the Boston teams. He wrote poetry, but his greatest love was his family; spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. After retiring, he and Joan lived in Laconia, NH for several years, which he enjoyed. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served during the Korean War in the Atlantic Fleet.

The funeral is Wednesday, July 16th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester, with a Mass at 10:00 A.M. in Our Lady of the Angels Church, 1222 Main Street, Worcester. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours are Tuesday, July 15th from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. in the funeral home.
