Laurine K. Gibbs, 84, of Fitzgerald, died Friday, July 11, 2014 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 3 PM, Sunday, July 13, 2014, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald with the Rev. Keith Goodlett and the Rev. B. J. Funk officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM until the funeral hour at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Gibbs was born January 14, 1930, in Irwin County, Georgia, to the late Walter and Rachel Walsh Kollock. She had lived in the community all of her life and was a 1948 graduate of Ocilla High School. She was a former hairdresser at J & L Beauty Salon with June Martin and also worked for Polly Ethridge. She was very passionate about her hairdressing and was an avid fisherman and dancer. Mrs. Gibbs was a member of Central United Methodist Church in Fitzgerald.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years: Jack Gibbs of Fitzgerald; a son: Philip Gibbs of Fitzgerald and a sister: Jacqueline & Bobby Roberts of Fitzgerald. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother: Perry Kollock; a sister: Frances Young and a half sister: Charley Lawrence.
