Obituary

Benvinda D. (Duarte) Lobo, 97, of New Bedford died July 10, 2014 at Brandon Woods of New Bedford after a brief illness.
She was the wife of the late João A. Lobo.
Born in Brava, Cape Verde, the daughter of the late Pedro and Maria (Duarte) Cunha, she lived in New Bedford for most of her life.
Mrs. Lobo was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
She enjoyed singing.
Survivors include 5 sons, Antonio Lobo, João "John" Lobo, Jr., Manuel Lobo, Joaquim "Jack" Lobo and Victor Lobo, all of New Bedford; a daughter, Ecilda Baptista of New Bedford; 18 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Ilda Duarte.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford Monday at 9:45 AM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, July 14th at 11 AM in St. Joseph's Church in Fairhaven (due to renovations at Our Lady of the Assumption Church). Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Visiting hours Sunday, July 13th from 4-8 PM.
