Obituary

DUDLEY – Jan Nagiel, 86, died Tuesday, July 8, 2014 in Saint Vincent Hospital, Worcester after an illness.
He leaves his wife of 59 years, Zofia (Parzych) Nagiel; a daughter, Dr. Izabella Nagiel-Ostaszewski and her husband Zbigniew of Hillcrest, NY; a son, Mark Nagiel and his wife Aneta of McKinney, TX; 4 grandchildren, Adam, Elizabeth, Kathryn and Julia; a brother, Albin Nagiel and a sister, Halina Kraft, both in Poland; nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his brother Kazimierz.
He was born and raised in Poland, a son of Antoni and Elzbieta (Zenc) Nagiel. He earned his Bachelor of Accountancy and Finance Degree from Warsaw University. He moved to the Syracuse, NY in 1972 and then to Dudley in 1996.
Mr. Nagiel was an accountant and state financial director in Poland. In Syracuse, he was an inspector for Cooper Industries before retiring in 1992.
He was a communicant of Saint Joseph Basilica and a member of its Sacred Heart Society. He was a collector at the church for many years. He devoted his life to charity, his wife and his family.
The funeral was held privately. Donations in his name may be made to Saint Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb St., Webster. Arrangements were under the direction of Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School St., Webster.
