Obituary

Rachael Levy was born Rachael Lanier Bolmer on May 25, 1924. She was born in Flushing, NY. Her family moved in her Senior year to Goldens Bridge, NY where Rachael met her life-long sweetheart, Samuel Levy. They married after graduating from Katonah High School. During World War II, Rachael volunteered for the American Red Cross motor corp in Point Pleasant, NJ for the duration of the war, while her husband served overseas. While raising 5 children in Shenorock, New York, Rachael was an active member of the American Legion, President of the PTA, started and managed a church thrift shop, was church secretary at The Church of the Good Shepherd in Granite Springs, NY, and was a Welcome Wagon hostess. Rachael was an avid reader, loved doing needlepoint, and loved the ocean. In 1961, Rachael and Sam fell in love with North Truro, Cape Cod, MA. After years of vacationing there, they built their home there in 1974. Rachael and Sam loved their home on the Cape where Sam became a Selectman and they became very active at their church, St. Mary’s of the Harbor, in Provincetown. Rachael managed the thrift shop there and later volunteered at the Aim Thrift Shop in Wellfleet. Rachael is pre-deceased by her daughter, Paige, and her husband, Sam. She is survived by her sister Janet Edwards, daughters Linda Landsberg, Eloise Levy, Rebecca McVickar, son Philip Levy, 8 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and1 great-great grandchild. For those wishing to remember Rachael, donations may be made to St. Mary’s of the Harbor, 517 Commercial St. Provincetown, MA 02657. A memorial service will beheld at a future date.
