Helen F. (Giniewicz) Farrell, 96, of Abington, passed away on July 7th after a period of failing health. She was the beloved wife of the late Donald “Don” Farrell for 63 years. Born March 29, 1918 in Abington, she was the daughter of the late Martin and Stefania (Bosak) Giniewicz.
Helen was raised and educated in Abington, MA. She was employed at Atlantic Card Company of Abington and the Alger Corporation of Abington, where she developed many long term friendships with her co-workers.
She and Don enjoyed their many trips with their friends of the Abington Senior Citizen Association. Among many of her interests were the Red Sox, both professional and college football, trips to Foxwoods and anything associated with the color purple. Helen was happiest when spending time with her beloved grandchildren.
She was a member of the Abington VFW Auxiliary and the Abington Senior Citizens Association.
She will be sadly missed by her family and friends with whom she spent much of her time.
She is survived by her children; Donna M. Donovan and her husband Kevin of Abington, David M. Farrell and his wife Carol of Rockland, Linda A. Doiron and her husband William of Abington and Donald M. Farrell and his wife Catherine of Abington; also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Kelly, Brian and Megan Farrell, William Doiron and his fiancé Ellen Rugen and Joseph Doiron and Kaitlyn and Lauren Farrell. She is also survived by her sisters Katherine “Kay” Sniger of Abington, Blanche Dubrowski of Brockton and Mary Giniewicz of Abington. She will also be missed by her many nieces and nephews and close family friends, Paul and Linda Johnson of Weymouth. Predeceased by her sisters, Stefania Giniewicz, Alice Mahoney and Tekla Ann Cicone.
Her services will be held on Saturday July 12th at 10:00AM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth St. (Rte. 58 @ the rotary circle) Whitman. Burial will follow in the Mt Vernon Cemetery, Abington. Visitation will be on Friday July 11th from 4:00-8:00.
