Obituary

Laconia----Edith (Levesque) Levasseur, 85, lifelong resident of the Laconia area, passed away on Monday, July 7, 2014. Her independent, determined spirit, coupled with her deep love of family, insure that she will be greatly missed.
Born Edith Levesque on March 21, 1929, Edith was the daughter of Alfred and Roseanna (Rocheleau) Levesque. She attended St. Joseph’s school where she and her sisters were well-known as the “Levesque Girls” and much in demand at church functions for their singing talent. She graduated from Laconia High School, Class of 1947, and married her true love, the “cute guy”, Clement Levasseur, in September, 1948, who predeceased her on July 12, 1995.
Growing up, Edith was a communicant of St. Joseph Church, and in her adult life, was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church.
Most recently, Edith found a calling in her ten years with First New Hampshire Bank as human resources representative for Laconia Peoples National Bank & Trust, retiring in September, 1991.
A unique team, Edith and Clem shared several and varied enterprises, including twenty-five years as owners/managers of Grovenole Cottages and Riverbank Laundromat. They particularly enjoyed their partnership raising their children, Steven, Donald and Joanne. Married for forty-seven years, Edith and Clem valued their time in Indian Rocks Beach, Florida where they relaxed with friends and family, particularly their granddaughter, Jessica.
Edith was a member of the “Senior Friends” group and loved traveling, reading, and gardening.
Edith leaves behind son, Donald, and his wife, Judy; daughter, Joanne Levasseur Blodgett, and her husband, Ernie Blodgett, Jr. and of course, Don and Judy’s family, Jessica Levasseur and Josh Robinson and his wife, Joanna. She also leaves behind Alice Morin Bolduc, her longtime friend and support and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, Edith was predeceased by her son, Steven, in 2000 and by three brothers and six sisters.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2014 from 4:00-7:00PM in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, N.H.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 11, 2014 at 11:00AM at St. Andre Bessette Parish- St. Joseph Church, 30 Church Street, Laconia, N.H.
Burial will follow in the family lot in Sacred Heart Cemetery with a reception following at the Beane Conference Center, 35 Blueberry Lane, Laconia, N.H.
