Obituary

MELROSE- Dominic A. Mondi, 74, husband of Virginia (Kane) Conway Mondi, of Melrose, formerly of Peabody and Woburn, died Saturday morning, June 30, 2001, in the Mass General Hospital, Boston, following a short illness.

Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Anthony and Josephine, (Previte) Mondi. He was a resident of Woburn from the mid 1950's until the early 1970's. He then resided in Peabody until moving to Melrose in 1992. He was a graduate of Fitchburg State College.

He was a Navy veteran of WWII, and served in the Pacific Theater and held the rating of Yeoman Second Class.

Prior to his retirement in the late 1980's, he was a graphic arts teacher for 17 years at the Beverly Vocational Technical High School.

He was an active member of the St Peter’s Episcopal Church in Salem, where he was a Eucharistic Minister and sang in the choir. For over 20 years, he was a member of the Northshoremen barbershop singers of Beverly.

Besides his wife, he is survived by 5 sons, David and his wife Helen Mondi of Danvers, Anthony Mondi of Wilmington, Ronald and his wife Allison Mondi of Woburn, Stephen Mondi of New Orleans, LA, Dominic and his wife Lee Mondi, Jr. of Peabody, 1 step-son, James and his wife Penny Conway, 2 step-daughters Diane and her husband Ronald Reppucci, all of Newburyport, Karen Conway of Melrose, 7 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 3 sisters, Edith and her husband Thomas Miller of Ft Meyers Beach, FL & Meredith, NH, Anna and her husband Richard Carr and Josephine Crivello and her partner Charles Falzone, all of Hemet, CA, three brothers, Rosario and his wife Ingrid Mondi of Plantation, FL, Anthony and his wife Ellen Mondi of Revere, Robert and his wife Kathleen Mondi of Micco, FL, and several nieces and nephews.

His service was held Tuesday, July 3, 2001 at 10 am from the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem, followed by a funeral service at 11 AM at St Peter’s Episcopal Church, 24 St Peter St., Salem. Visiting hours were Monday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. Burial was in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
