Irene J. Gonsalves, age 85, of Woburn passed away peacefully at the Lexington Health Care Center, July 5th, following a lengthy illness. Born in Woburn she was one of seven children of the late Angelina (Gomes - Pestana) and John F. Gonsalves Sr.
Irene was a life-long resident of Woburn. She devoted her life to caring for her family at a young age when her mother became ill. Irene was a talented cook and baker, famous for her apple pie. She also enjoyed music and loved to sing and play the guitar.
She is survived by her siblings; Mary Gonsalves, John Gonsalves and his wife Jeanne, Agnes Gonsalves, all of Woburn, Julie Perez and her husband Pedro of New York City, NY. Sister-in-law of Jean Gonsalves of Woburn and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her late parents, Irene is predeceased by her brothers, Joseph Gonsalves Jr. and Ernest Gonsalves.
A funeral service will be conducted in the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., WOBURN, Thursday, July 10th, at 11:30 am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family prior to the service from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Services will conclude with burial at Calvary Cemetery, Woburn.
