Edith Odelphia (Johnson) Albright went to be with Jesus on June 24, 2014, at the age of 94.
Edith was born to Johan Henry Johnson and Orphea Lee (Rooks) Johnson on May 17, 1920, in Granite, Idaho. She spent her childhood in Spirit Lake, Idaho and earned an Elementary Teaching Certificate from the University of Idaho. She taught for two years in the Clarksfork School District and then married Ralph E. Albright on February 7, 1942 in Sandpoint, Idaho. They were married for 68 years. Their children were raised in Spokane, Pullman, Ritzville, Prosser, and Selah. She held secretarial jobs. She worked twelve years for the Bank of Prosser and nine years for the National Security Agency, from which she retired in 1984.
Edie enjoyed music, cooking, and sewing. Her instruments were the violin, the piano, and the organ. She directed adult and children’s choirs in Ritzville and Prosser. As a member of Grace of Christ Presbyterian Church in Yakima, she participated in vocal and handbell groups, served as a deacon, and took part in small groups. She was a member of PEO Chapter HK while she lived in Selah. She enjoyed fishing and was so good at it that she experienced lots of envy. She also like playing games like bridge and rummikub, and traveled across the country with Ralph in their Airstream trailer. Edie made many friends along the way.
She is survived by her daughters Marjorie Barmore (husband, Warren) in Prosser, Washington, and Evie Taylor (husband, Dave), in Oroville, Washington, eight grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph, her daughter, Nancy Albright, her parents, and her siblings, Lela Johnson, LaRue Johnson, and Homer Johnson.
