SALEM- Claire J. (Hennessy) Akulonis Jalbert, 78, wife of Robert “Pete” Jalbert of Salem, died Thursday morning, August 30, 2001 in the Salem Hospital after being stricken at her home. Born in Methuen, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Emma (Zahn) Hennessy.
Prior to her retirement in 1990, she was employed for 23 years at Bernard’s Jewelers on Essex Street in Salem.
Mrs Jalbert was a resident of Salem for over 40 years and was a parishioner of the St James Church, Salem.
Besides her husband, with whom she shared 44 years of marriage, she is survived by one daughter, Carol A. Jalbert of Salem, one brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Ruby Hennessy of Dracut, three sisters, Gertrude Schweizer of Methuen, Irene Nollet of Andover, Phyllis Sepe of Dracut and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late James Akulonis and Paul Akulonis.
Her funeral service was held Saturday, September 1, 2001 at 9 am from the funeral home, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 am at St. James Church, Salem. Her nephew, Rev. Kevin M. Sepe, Pastor of the St Francis of Assisi Parish in Braintree celebrated the Mass. Visiting hours were held in the funeral home on Friday, from 4 to 8 pm. Burial was in St Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
