Obituary

Doris M. Fitzmaurice, of Woburn formerly of Arlington and Cambridge, passed away peacefully on July 5th, at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading. She was 86. Doris was the beloved wife of the late Francis L. Fitzmaurice. Born in Fall River she was one of twelve children of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Heron) Sousa.

Doris was raised and educated in Cambridge where she was a 1946 graduate of Cambridge Latin High School. She worked for many years as an Assistant to the Dean of Admission at Radcliffe College in Cambridge. She later worked as an executive secretary with the United Electric Controls Company of Watertown and eventually retired from the Polaroid Corporation where she also worked as an executive secretary. Doris was a past member of the Arlington Garden Club, served as the secretary of the M.B.T.A. Transit Club and was an active parishioner of St. Eulalia Church in Winchester for many years. In her leisure time, Doris enjoyed traveling, Ballroom dancing, listening to music, attending bingo and was always a supporter of the arts. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends.

In addition to her late parents and husband, Doris is predeceased by her son; David G. Fitzmaurice and her siblings, Arthur, Joan, Joseph, John, James and Kenneth Sousa, Kathleen Fay and Elizabeth McManus. She is survived by her children, Francis L. Fitzmaurice Jr. and his wife Maryanne, Claire A. Taylor and her husband Edward, Joan M. Auger and her husband Robert, all of Woburn. She was the loving grandmother of Michelle, Joseph and Paul Fitzmaurice, David Taylor and his wife Jessica, Bethany and Jason Taylor, and Kimberly Auger. Loving great grandmother of Emma Perry and Liam Taylor. Sister of Rita Donovan of Sandwich, Noreen Selinger of Peabody, and Virginia Healey of Raleigh, NC.

Funeral services will be held from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., WOBURN, Thursday, July 10th, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Eulalia Church, 50 Ridge St., Winchester, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours at the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home will be on Wednesday from 4 thru 8 p.m. Services will conclude with burial at Cambridge City Cemetery, Cambridge.
