Obituary

Mr. Peter Francis Kay, of Taunton and formerly of Hyde Park, died Friday, July 4 in Rhode Island Hospital, Providence, as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. He was born 66 years ago in Boston, the son of the late Harry J. and Irene (Kelley) Kay. He was educated in Hyde Park, having graduated from Hyde Park High School, and had been a Taunton resident for the past 15 years. Prior to his retirement, he had been employed as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service in South Boston for 30 years. Peter was previously employed at the Tileston & Hollingsworth Paper Mill in Hyde Park. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Vietnam Era. He was a former member of the Fogg-Roberts Post #78 American Legion in Hyde Park.
He leaves: 2 sisters: Julie K. Coakley and her husband, Paul of Taunton, and Nancy J. Murphy of Wareham; his nieces: Kelley (Crockett) Nunes and her children, Brianna and Courtney of Raynham, Heidi Black and her children, Matthew Peter and Madison Kay of Taunton, Alicia Crockett of Taunton, and Victoria Crockett of Wareham; his nephew: Sean E. Roberts of Taunton, and several other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held from The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, Taunton, on Wednesday, July 9 at 9:30 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in St. Jude the Apostle Church, Whittenton Street, Taunton, at 10:30 A.M. Interment will be in the V.A. National Cemetery, Bourne. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting Hours will be held on Tuesday, from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to the Southeastern Mass.
