Obituary

BEVERLY: John J. Wojick, 67, died Friday, July 4, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Cheryl J. (Stanley) Wojick.
Born in Peabody on November 2, 1946, he was the son of the late Andrew and Helen (Gaynor) Wojick. He was a graduate of Peabody High School and had resided in Peabody for many years before moving to Beverly in 1986. A U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War, he was honorably discharged as a Sergeant on May 24, 1972.
John was a retired truck driver for Mystic Island Transportation for eleven years. Prior to that he worked at Sylvania in Danvers for twenty-five years. He was lifetime member of St. Michael’s Society in Peabody and a member of the Teamster’s Union, Local 25. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed playing softball and was very proud of his Polish heritage.
In addition to his wife of twenty-eight years, he is survived by his three daughters, Debra H. Woods, Amy M. Bastos and Melissa S. Woods; two grandsons, Jordan Chouinard and Matthew Woods-Chouinard and soon to be born granddaughter; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Andrew “Fred” and Donna Wojick and Frank and Karen Wojick; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Diane and Rocky Marciano and Kathryn “Kitty” and William Dawson; four sisters-in-law, three brothers-in-law and many nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by a brother, Richard Wojick.
A celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday in St. Michael’s Society, 15 Endicott St., Peabody at 6 p.m. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 4 – 6 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to Miles for Hope (moving towards a cure for brain tumors), 2561 Nursery Rd., Suite D., Clearwater, FL 33764.
