Dorothy Lee (Brown) Rider, 82, Anderson died July 2, 2014 at Countryside Manor after an extended illness.
She was born November 1, 1931 in Akron, Ohio to Flavy B. and Elizabeth G. (Barnett) Brown.
Graduated from Anderson College in 1952 and was a school teacher with Grand Rapids School Cop. and DeKalb School System a total of 42 years teaching primarily second and third grade.
Dorothy has lived in Anderson since May of 2009 and attended Madison Park and South Meridian Churches of God.
She was deeply involved with the Women of the Church of God and held many positions including President of Georgia Women of the Church of God.
She loved teaching the children of the inner city.
She is survived by her 2 sons Timothy E. Rider of Atlanta, GA; Stephen (Gina) Rider of Fenton, MI; and her daughter Rhonda (David) Neidert of Anderson; 9 grandchildren Sarah (Damon) King; Katie Jo (Matt) Besemer; Karly (Matt) Diktarewicz; David (Caitlin) Neidert; Ashleigh (Danny) Scheel; Kerri (Phil) Davis; Angelina (Matt) Murray; Mariah Neidert and Nathan Rider; 9 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews including Debbie (Rev. Jeff) Tomlinson of Maryland and Randy Brown.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Paul H. Rider April 22, 2012; her parents and her brother, Flavy B. Brown.
A family memorial service will be at a later date.
Cremation took place.
