Obituary

Leon J. Gendron, Jr., 84, of Groton, CT went to be with his Lord on July 1, 2014. Lee was born on March 12, 1930, in Providence, RI. He was predeceased by his parents, Leon J. Gendron, Sr., and Mary Farland Gendron and. a sister, Beatrice Duza.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Helen (Cabral) Gendron, their four children, Gale Norman of Brooklyn, CT, Matthew Gendron of Groton, CT, Jane Levis of Gales Ferry, CT and Susan Weber of Mystic, CT. Leon will be sadly missed by his sister, Clarice Gendron, of Oakland, FL and her children, Clarice Rodolowicz, Joe Gendron and Beverly Beshara.

Lee enlisted in the army in 1953 and served in the Korean War. He married Helen on August 18, 1956. For 15 years, Lee was a barber in West Warwick, RI and then went to work as a security guard at Electric Boat in Groton, CT where his family later relocated.

Lee was a member of Groton Bible Chapel for 35 years where he enjoyed fellowship and Bible study. He loved spending time with his beloved wife and family. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

There will be a memorial service to celebrate Lee’s life on Friday, July 11th at 11:00 a.m. at Groton Bible Chapel, 66 Toll Gate Rd., Groton, CT. The burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lee’s name to Groton Bible Chapel or The Alzheimer’s Association.
