Obituary

Kane, Dorothy S. (Schreiber) of Merrymount, Quincy. June 29, at the age of 95. Beloved wife of the late Paul D. Kane Jr. Loving mother of Paul D. Kane III of Quincy, Leslie D. Marma and her husband Leonard of Marshfield and the late Douglas H. Kane of Quincy and Doylestown, PA. Also survived by one grandson, three granddaughters and seven great grandchildren. Sister of Marjorie E. Walsh of Wellesley.

Mrs. Kane was born in Boston on September 1, 1918. She was the daughter of the late Henry and Laura (Muller) Schreiber of Wellesley. She graduated from Jamaica Plain High School, Calvin Coolidge (formerly Portia College) and the Fay Secretarial School. Dorothy has lived in Quincy for 65 year and formerly lived in Higham, Cambridge and Roslindale. A 1985 retiree of the John Hancock Life Insurance Company, she worked for 20n years as a Pension Plan Cost Consultant.

Mrs. Kane was a member of the Friendship Group at Bethany Congregational Church, also a member of Stenkil Lodge and the Viking Club of Braintree and formerly of the Wollaston Garden Club. She enjoyed reading, gardening, dancing and traveling visiting Hawaii, Majorca, Spain, Switzerland, Bermuda, Aruba and most of the Caribbean Islands on many cruises. She always said her late husband was the “best dancer wherever they went” and they also enjoyed Square Dancing as well as their favorite, ballroom dancing. A private Graveside Service will be held at the Mt. Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy.
