Jeannette G. Arvanites, 76, of New Bedford, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 30, 2014 at Royal Taber Street Nursing Home after a long illness.
She is survived by her loving husband, Louis Arvanites; two children, daughter Diane Leclair-Arvanites of Providence, RI and son Anthony Arvanites of Medford, MA; and two grandchildren, Aaron and Athena.
Born in New Bedford, she resided in the city for all of her life. She was the daughter of the late Eva Bernard.
Mrs. Arvanites was formerly employed as a nurse’s aide and activity director at Savoy Nursing Center and a cafeteria cashier at New Bedford High School.
She was an active member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church and the Ladies Philoptochos Society. She enjoyed attending church and singing in the choir.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 4–7 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Her Funeral Service will be held on Thursday at 10 AM at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 186 Cross Road, Dartmouth, followed by burial at Pine Grove Cemetery.
