Ethel May Farthing, age 100, entered into rest on April 27, 2014 at Prestige Care and Rehabilitation in Grandview. She was born on January 8, 1914 in Clyde Park, Montana to Robert and Susan (Bullock) Hays. Ethel married Robert C. Farthing and they lived in the Richland- Kennewick area for fifteen years until making Prosser their home in 1962. She loved children and raised numerous foster children through the years.
Ethel is survived by her daughter-in-law, Brenda Farthing of Grandview; sister, Annabelle Wimer of Yuma, Arizona; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Corpening Farthing in 1986; her son, Robert Thomas Farthing in 2007; her brother, Bob Hays; and her sisters, Alice Evenson and Montana Arrington. Her brother, Tom Hays died ten days after Ethel.
Graveside services will be held in the Prosser Cemetery on Thursday, June 26th at 11:30 a.m. A memorial service for Ethel and her brother, Tom Hays will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, June 28th at the Washtucna Grange in Washtucna.
