Obituary

Ronald G. Watier, 61, of North Smithfield died Monday June 23, 2014 at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital in North Providence.
Born in Woonsocket he was a son of Alfred N. Watier of Bellingham and the late Lucille T. (Lamoureux) Watier. Ron was raised in Bellingham and resided in North Smithfield for most of his adult life.
Ron was a graduate of Mount St. Charles Academy Class of 1970.
Ron was employed as a truck drive for Garelick Farms and was an independent carpentry contractor. For the past 19 years he worked for Leeway True Value Hardware in North Smithfield.
In his younger years Ron was an avid fly fisherman. He was a staunch New England sports fan, especially the Red Sox, and enjoyed getting out to play golf.
Ron will be remembered for his generosity, kind manner and his unique sense of wit and humor. Ron’s love for his family, especially his two daughters, was at the center of his life. Ron also had a soft spot in is heart for his furry companion “Spazo”.
In addition to his father, he is survived by two daughters Kelly A. Watier of Woonsocket and Karen Watier and her love, James Rodger, of Cumberland and his former wife and friend Lorraine J. Peloquin of Woonsocket. He was the brother of Alfred M. Watier and his wife, Mary Claire, of North Smithfield and the late Michael G. Watier and Robert A. Watier. Ron was delighted to learn of the birth of his grandson Cayson James Rodger who came into the world on Sunday June 22nd. Ron is also survived by several nieces and nephews and many cousins and friends.
Visiting hours will be Tuesday from 4-8 pm in the Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave. Woonsocket. A prayer service will be held at 7:30 pm during visiting hours. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Woonsocket Cat Sanctuary, 266 Mendon Rd. Woonsocket, RI. 02895.
