Obituary

Jeremiah J. "Jerry" Sheehan, (Retired Captain, Suffolk County Sheriff's Department), a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Thursday, June 26, 2014 at The Chelsea Soldier's Home in Chelsea after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 72 years old.

Jerry was born in Boston on June 6, 1942, a son of the late Daniel M. Sheehan and Christina T. (Sullivan) Sheehan. Jerry grew up in Charlestown where he was educated at St. Catherine's Parochial School and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1962. He enlisted into the United States Army on December 3, 1962 and served his country with courage and dignity during the Vietnam Conflict. He was discharged on October 22, 1964 with the rank of Specialist Fourth Class. Jerry began working for the Suffolk County Sheriff's Department and retired as a Captain after over 30 years of dedicated service. He was a member of Bunker Hill Council # 62, Knights of Columbus, Bunker Hill Associates, Charlestown American Legion Post # 26, Charlestown Old Schoolboys Association and Bunker Hill Day Parade Committee.

Jerry is the devoted brother of Mary Goggin and her husband William of Charlestown and Daniel Sheehan and his wife Roseanne of Charlestown. He is the loving uncle to Mary Pollman, Diane Ciardi, William Goggin, James Goggin, Christine Goggin, Carol Sheehan and Daniel Sheehan and great-uncle to Steven Goggin, Janine Goggin, Jaclyn Ciardi and Nicole Ciardi.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Jerry's Funeral on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 10 A.M. Burial at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. Visiting hours Monday, June 30, 2014 from 4 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
