Obituary

Judith P. “Judy” (Peterson) Lacy, of Plymouth, died on June 25th at the Newfield House in Plymouth at the age of 103. The beloved wife of the late Daniel D. Lacy, she is survived by her son Peter Jeffrey Lacy of Plymouth, as well as three generations of nieces and nephews. Judy was her family's last surviving Peterson sister: Alice; Charlotte; Ruth; and Dorothy all having predeceased her.
Born in Boston, raised in Newton Centre, she graduated at the top of her class at Newton High School before she made her way into her first career in banking where she became the assistant to the President of the Brookline Trust Company. Following her marriage, she also worked as an estate manager, accountant, and realtor. One of Judy's greatest pleasures in life was the written word. A voracious reader, Judy was instrumental in starting the Great Books program in Manomet. Active in her community as well, she was a founding member of the South Plymouth Coastal Community Council, a board member of the Jordan Hospital Club, a member of the Plymouth Antiquarian Society, and past President of the Manomet Point Association. She was a collector of local history and an avid Red Sox fan who, through thick and thin, rarely missed a Sox broadcast.
Visiting hours will be held at the Richard Davis Funeral Home, 619 State Rd (Rte 3A), Plymouth (Manomet) on Monday, June 30th from 5 to 7 PM. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Bonaventure’s Church on Tuesday, July 1st at 11 AM followed by a burial at Manomet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Plymouth Public Library, 132 South St, Plymouth, MA 02360.
