Sara Bernice Wade Green, 94, of Ocilla, Georgia, formerly of Montrose, Georgia, died Thursday, June 26, 2014, at Palemon Gaskins Memorial Nursing Home in Ocilla.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Sunday, June 29, 2014 at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Dublin with the Rev. B.J. Funk officiating. Interment will follow in the Montrose Cemetery, Laurens County. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Sunday at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home.
Mrs. Green was born November 14, 1919, in Montrose, Georgia, to the late Homer and Donna Lee Puckett Wade. She was a graduate of Dublin High School and received her teacher’s training at the Georgia College for Women in Milledgeville. She taught in the Laurens County public schools for many years. She lived most of her life in Montrose and was a homemaker. Mrs. Green was of the United Methodist faith and enjoyed gardening.
She is survived by her son: E.W. “Bubba” Green, Sr. and his wife, Sara, of Montrose; her daughter: Lee Green Standley of Blue Ridge; her son: Thomas A. Green and his wife, Susie, of Fitzgerald; a daughter-in-law: Martha Green of Montrose; seven grandchildren: Lisa, Chrissie, Kim, Wade, Megan, Alex, and Amanda; one great-grandchild; and one great-great-grandchild. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Marvin L. “Coot” Green, Sr., a son: Marvin L. “Lance” Green, Jr., a brother: Deward Wade, and a son-in-law: Charles Standley.
