Muriel F. (Guilmette) Ford formerly of Salem, NH passed away June 25, 2014 at the Prescott House in North Andover. Muriel was born August 19, 1924 in Lawrence, Mass. to Francis and Martha (Ridings) Guilmette.
Muriel grew up in Lawrence where she attended local schools. After graduating from Lawrence High School in 1942, Muriel enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force. As a WAC, she served her country as an airport dispatcher from 1944 – 1946. Following her service, Muriel worked as a parts inspector for several local companies.
Muriel married her late husband Earl F. Ford in 1951. They enjoyed being outdoors, boating, camping, and traveling, and in retirement they spent many winters together in Florida. Muriel was an avid sports fan and reader, and she took great pleasure in family gatherings and watching her nieces and nephews grow up.
Muriel is survived by her sister Frances M. (Guilmette) Danahy of Methuen, nieces and nephews Dawn (Danahy) Giarrusso of Methuen, Maureen (Danahy) Genakos of Barrington NH, Frances (Danahy) LeSaffre of Andover, James Danahy III of Ashland NH, Shawn Danahy Sr. of Methuen, Shane Danahy Sr. of Methuen, Kyle Danahy of New Hampton NH, Bert and Susan Ford of Salem NH, and Bonnie Walsh of Salem NH. Several grand and great nieces and nephews also survive Muriel.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the Prescott House of North Andover for providing compassion and kindness in their care for Muriel.
Visitation will be held Monday, June 30th from 9-10:30 AM, followed by a funeral service at 10:30 AM at the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St, Salem, NH. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Salem.
