Benjamin Franklin Golden, 75, of Owings, Maryland, formerly of Ocilla, Georgia, died Wednesday, June 25, 2014, at his residence in Maryland.
Graveside services will be held 11 AM, Saturday, June 28, 2014, at Brushy Creek Cemetery in Irwin County, Georgia, with the Rev. John Gibbs, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Friday evening at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mr. Golden was born September 20, 1938, in Irwin County, Georgia, to the late Will W. and Ella Mae Cox Golden. He lived his entire life in the Ocilla community, but for the past three years which he spent with family in Maryland. He was a farmer and attended Bethlehem Baptist Church in Irwin County.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years: Meriam Laverne Jernigan Golden of Owings, Maryland; son: Jerry & Wendy Golden of Harvest, Alabama; a daughter: Sabrina & Trent Wolfersberger of Owings, Maryland; four grandchildren: Aaron Golden, Ashlee & Trent Oakes, Mary Beth Wolfersberger and Rachel Wolfersberger; and two brothers: Curtis Golden of Fitzgerald and Lee Golden of Fort Worth, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents.
