GLOUCESTER: Ivan B. Frost, 88, died Tuesday, June 24, 2014 in the Seacoast Nursing & Rehabilitation Center following a brief illness. He was the loving husband of the late Shirley L. (Sylvester) Frost who died in 2002.
Born in Gloucester on January 5, 1926, he was the son of the late James H. Frost, Sr. and Lydia (Hamilton) Frost. He was a lifelong resident of Gloucester.
A decorated U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a Purple Heart and Bronze Star recipient for his heroic and meritorious service to his country. He proudly served under Gen. George S. Patton, Jr.
Ivan was employed as a mechanic for Sears & Roebuck in Gloucester and Peabody for many years before his retirement. He enjoyed gardening and especially loved spending time in his back yard with family and friends.
He is survived by two nieces, Carol Golart of Hillsboro, OR and Nancy Clough of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; two nephews, David Frost and his wife, Kathy of Clovis, New Mexico and Skip Frost and his wife, Mary Ann of Gloucester and numerous great-nieces, great-nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. He is also predeceased by two brothers, James and George Frost, a sister, Marjorie Golart and two nephews, Craig Golart and Robert Frost.
His funeral service will be held on Saturday in Beechbrook Cemetery, Essex Ave., (Rt.133) W. Gloucester at 9 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. There are no visiting hours.
