Josephine Ann (LoPiano) Roy, 90 of Reading passed away at her late residence on June 22, 2014. She was born on May 11, 1924 in Lawrence to the late Salvatore and Ignazia (Maida) LoPiano. Josephine was a graduate of Lawrence High School and the Trull School of Nursing of Biddeford, ME Class of 1946.
Josephine was the loving wife of the late Donat J. Roy with whom she shared 62 years of marriage. She was the devoted mother of Cynthia Roy McCracken and her husband Frank of Gloucester, Thomas Roy of Reading and David Roy of Reading. Josephine was one of 9 children and she leaves behind her brother, William LoPiano of Tempe, AZ. Josephine was the cherished grandmother of Nicholas McCracken, Nicole Keefe, Heather Roy, April Roy, Lindsey Roy, Jennifer Roy and Kiley Roy. She was the great grandmother of Melina Portelle, Amber and Halle Keefe, and Domenic Portelle.
Josephine and Donat's home was the meeting place for summertime Sunday afternoon family get togethers. Starting in the 1950's, a whole generation of brothers, sisters, uncles, aunts and cousins with their children would all come to Jo's house where everyone enjoyed the day using the in-ground swimming pool followed by many wonderful Sunday dinners. She will be sorely missed by her loving family.
