Adele T. Jewett, age 79, of Lakeville, formerly of Brockton, passed away unexpectedly and suddenly on June 22, 2014. She was the loving wife of the late David B. Jewett, married for over 51 years.
Adele was born in Brockton, the daughter of the late Mary (Bruni) Lombardi Cosgrove and the late Daniel Lombardi.
She met Dave Jewett, the love of her life, while working at Connors Home Bakery in Brockton. She attended Bridgewater State Teachers College, and in later years, Massasoit Community College.
Adele was a homemaker and always an active and integral part of her children’s development and interests.
She returned to the workforce after raising 4 children, and was proud to be one of the original switchboard operators at the Brockton Hospital in the late 1960’s.
She worked various jobs to contribute to her family. She especially enjoyed her career of many years as a Real Estate Broker. She was so determined to satisfy a picky client that she showed him over 30 houses in order to complete the sale.
She was an Accounts Receivable representative in the Collections department for Patient Accounts at Bridgewater Goddard Park Medical Associates for over 10 years.
Adele was extremely meticulous about housekeeping, cleanliness and organization. You would be unable to find any lingering dirt or dust in her home.
She was selflessly devoted to family. Her grandchildren meant the world to her. She cultivated close relationships with them and was actively involved in their lives.
She loved sewing, gardening, coin collecting and trips to the casino.
Adele was the beloved wife of the late David B. Jewett. Beloved mother of Kathleen S. Jewett of Brockton, Patricia J. Patten and her husband Thomas of Centerville, David B. Jewett and his wife Laurie of Rochester. She was pre-deceased by her beloved son, Daniel M. Jewett, who passed away in 1978. She was the beloved grandmother of April, Brian, Danielle and Thomas, and extended family Bridget, Cheryl and son Aiden.
She was the devoted sister of Mary Gordon of Brockton, Fred Lombardi of Bridgewater, Margaret Standish of Stoughton, Carol Horsman of E. Taunton, Dorothy Trosky of Abington, Lauren Cote of Raynham and the late Daniel Lombardi.
Also survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends and special relatives her sister-in-law Maryrose Fleming, cousin Michael Lombardi and her late Aunt Rose Lombardi.
Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street, Brockton on Thursday June 26 4-8 pm. All are welcome to a Celebration of Adele’s life on Friday in the funeral home at 10 am followed by burial in Calvary Cemetery. Adele always supported the St. Jude Hospital.
