Obituary

Maurice B. Labbe, 87, died after a lengthy illness at the VA Medical Center, Manchester, NH.

Maurice was born in Manchester, N.H. on May 13, 1927 to Hormidas and Blanche (Thibaudeau) Labbe. He was married to Pauline “Pauly” (Peat) Labbe, celebrating their 66th wedding anniversary on April 17, 2014.

A World War II Veteran, Maurice served honorably in the United States Marine Corps aboard the Battleship USS Indiana (BB-58) as a Seagoing Marine. His employment with New England Telephone Company spanned a distinguished career in telecommunications of over 40 years. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers; Project Engineer for Continental Field Services; a member of the Marine Corps League, Granite State #542; Military Order of the Devil Dogs, PDD; American Legion; VFW; Veterans Affairs Voluntary Service (VAVS); Scottish American Military Society; the Boy Scouts of America; and parishioner of St. Raphael’s, Manchester, N.H.

He is survived by his wife, Pauline; two sons, Francis M. Labbe, Secular Franciscan, Russell G. Labbe and his wife Jane of Milford, N.H.; a daughter, Lynnanne L’Abbee and her husband Curt Martin, both of Shelbyville, KY; Grandson Russell G. Labbe, Jr. and wife Andrea, and their children, Russell G. Labbe III and Kristofer Alexander; Granddaughter Heather Anne L’Abbee and fiancé Robert Snow, and Leah Spaulding, daughter of Heather Anne L’Abbee.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, June 26, 2014 at Lambert Funeral Home and Crematory, 1799 Elm St., Manchester, N.H. Committal Prayers, with full military honors, were held at the N.H. State Veterans Cemetery Chapel, Boscawen, N.H.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Veterans Recreational Fund, account #4031, care of the V.A. Medical Center, 718 Smyth Rd, Manchester, N.H. 03104 or to the Granite State Marine Corp League Detachment 542, PO Box 3857, Manchester, NH 03105

Maurice will be remembered for his dedication to Community and Country, as witnessed by his generosity of spirit as a good man who lived a good life.
