John Willis Kennedy, 70, of Tifton died Friday, June 20, 2014, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 24, 2014, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Rickey Wells will officiate with burial to follow at Tift Memorial Gardens. Steven Kennedy, David Kennedy, Rubert Hogan, Shane Rugg, Alex Waldrop, Randall Waldrop, Zach Waldrop and Gene Harris will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Monday, June 23, 2014, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Kennedy was born on February 1, 1944, in Turner County and was the son of Willie Jack Kennedy and Mattie Gay Kennedy, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters. He was retired and of the Holiness faith.
Mr. Kennedy is survived by the mother of his children, Peggy Ruth Webb of Tifton; one son, Michael “Bryan” Kennedy of Tifton; two brothers, Bobby Ray Kennedy of Leesburg and Henry Lee Kennedy of Camilla; one sister, Mary Joyce Todd of Hagan; and three grandchildren, Nevaeh Renee Hendrix, Rose Marie Kennedy and Dalton Bryson Kennedy.
