TAUNTON – Donald Leanues, husband for the past fifty-nine years of Elsie (Mendoza) Leanues of Taunton, died at Morton Hospital on June 15, 2014.
He was 85. Born in Taunton, he was the son of the late Manuel and Louise (Medeiros) Leanues.
Raised and educated in Taunton, he attended Taunton schools and later served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He was employed as a group leader by Texas Instruments, where he worked for twenty-five years. Well known for his ballroom dancing skills, he also enjoyed fishing.
In addition to his wife, he leaves two daughters, Judy Goulart and Kendra Leanues, both of East Taunton;
three brothers, Kenneth and Raymond Leanues, both of Taunton, and Robert Leanues of Bridgewater;
two sisters, Dorothy Carreiro of Taunton and Evelyn McQuade of Raynham;
five grandchildren, Hilary and Adam Goulart, both of NH, Jessie Leanues of FL, and Sara and Shaun Leanues, both of Taunton;
three great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was also the father of the late Donald W. Leanues and brother of the late Edward, Gerald and Joanne Leanues.
Memorial Services will be held at the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Saturday, June 28th at 4 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
The family will be receiving visitors from 2 to 4 p.m. prior to the services.
