Sylvester W. “Sonny” Vander Bogart, 79 of Franklin died June 16.
Born in Adams, Massachusetts, May 25, 1935, the son of the late Sylvester and Adella (Sworzen) Vander Bogart, Jr. Mr. Vander Bogart had lived in Franklin for many years.
He was a graduate of Northeastern University and had worked for GTE as a systems analyst before retiring.
Mr. Vander Bogart had served in the Army during the late 1950’s attaining the rank of 1st Lieutenant.
Sonny was a longtime member of the Franklin Elks Club.
Heis survived by his daughters, Karen Breen and her husband Fred of Franklin and Laura Duhamel and her husband Scott of Franklin.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Andrew, Alyssa and Ali Breen and Matt and Taylor Duhamel all of Franklin.
He is also survived by his former wife Cathy Capozza.
His funeral will be held on Monday, June 23 from the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 131 Main Street Franklin at 9:15 followed by a funeral mass in St. Mary’s Church at 10:00.
Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams at a future date.
Calling hours will be on Sunday from 6-8.
