Obituary

CHICOPEE – Raymond E. DuBois, 86, of the Aldenville section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Father’s Day, Sunday, June 15, 2014. He passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Holyoke on March 22, 1928, a beloved son of the late Gilbert U. and Geneva (Cadieux) DuBois. He was raised in Holyoke, attended Holy Rosary High School and lived in Holyoke for many years. He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II aboard the USS William R. Rush and attained the rank of Seaman Second Class. He received the American Area Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. Following his military service, he returned to Holyoke before moving to the Aldenville section of Chicopee in the late 1950’s. He later moved to Sunnyvale, California, then Houston, Texas before returning to the Aldenville section of Chicopee in 1999. While living in Holyoke, he worked at the former Chemical Paper Company. He served as a Municipal Judge for the Municipal Court in Surfside, Texas and was also a Deputy Constable with the rank of Major in Fort Bend County, Texas before retiring in 1999. He was a member of the Aldenville American Legion Post 337, the Moose Family Center, the Chicopee Lodge of Elks 1849, the Tiger’s Athletic Club and the Oregon Sportsmen’s Club, all in Chicopee. He was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee. He leaves his beloved wife and best friend, Lucille A. (Brault) DuBois. They were married on May 1, 1948 at Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee and were blessed with over 66 years of happiness together. Besides his wife, he leaves his loving sons, Wayne R. DuBois and his wife, Janice, of Sugarland, TX, and Gary P. DuBois and his wife, Susan, of Altadena, CA; his cherished grandson, Colin DuBois of Altadena, CA; his loving sisters-in-law, Connie DuBois of Tucson, AZ and Maryann DuBois of Chicopee; his loving brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Paul and Rita Brault of Chicopee; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, and extended members of the DuBois and Brault families. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his loving brothers and sister, Gilbert, Robert and Roger DuBois and Constance Daviau. His funeral will be held on Saturday morning, June 21, 2014 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His burial with US Navy Military Honors will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, June 20, 2014 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
