New Bedford - Maria (Bernardo) Ventura, 88, died Friday, November 12, 2004 at St. Luke's Hospital. She was the wife of Antonio M. Ventura. Mrs. Venture was the mother of Alredo Farias of California, Maria Lenora Moniz, Evarito deFarias, and Adelino deFarias all of Dartmouth MA., Maria daGloria Melo, Antonio Farias, Maria Santos all from New Bedford MA.,
Mrs. Ventura was born in New Bedford, moved to Portugal for 29 years and then returned to the New Bedford area. She was the daughter of the late Adelino and Maria Trinidade (Aria) Bernardo. Mrs. Ventura was a stitcher for the Clifitex Factory. She also was the former proprietor of Maria's Bakery.
Her funeral will be Tuesday, November 15, 2004 from the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth Street, at 8 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Saint John the Baptist Church on County Street at 9 A.M.. Visiting hours will be Sunday November 14, 2004 from 4-7 P.M. at the funeral home.
