Obituary

Crowley, James R. 80 passed away at his home on June 13. Beloved husband of Mary L. (Hayes) Crowley of Plymouth. Father of James F. Crowley and his wife Kelly L. (Green) Crowley of Plymouth and Ethel M Furtado and her Husband David of Plymouth.
James was born in Boston the son of John and Agnes Crowley, he graduated from Boston English High School, Merrimack College and North Eastern University with a Masters in Electronics.. James served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was National or State Vocational Teacher of the year 1987, 1988,1991 Disney Teacher of the year candidate in 1992. He developed and produced the first Vocational Academic integrated secondary electronics computer based program. He presented at many his programs at many AVA (American Vocational Association). He produced with his students the first safety video for Massachusetts MADD used by the State Police.. James produced many instructional videos for electronics instruction and workshops.

James taught at Blue Hills Technical School and was Department head for 28 years, a member of the Blue Hills Educational Hall of Fame, as well as the Athletic Hall of Fame as A baseball Coach (over 100 wins). He started the Robotics program (one of the first nationally at the secondary level) winning Massachusetts State, gold, silver and bronze medal awards. He was the President of Blue Hill Educators Association. James also taught at Upper Cape Technical High School and was on the Program Advisory Committee there and at Plymouth South High School. He was a Town Meeting Member in Plymouth and a member of the School Committee in Plymouth.
Visiting hours will be held at the Richard Davis Funeral Home 619 State Road (Rte. 3A) Plymouth (Manomet on Tuesday June 17 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Margaret’s Church Main St Buzzards Bay on Wednesday June 18 at 10:00 AM Burial will take place at Massachusetts National Cemetery at a later date will be private. In lieu of flowers donations in James’ memory may be made to Cranberry Hospice 36 Cordage Park Circle Suite 326, Plymouth MA 02360
